Things to keep in mind when organizing your bedroom

Has your bedroom turned into a boring and messy private space? Consider breathing life into it anew with some great tips for organizing a room.

Do one area at a time

Sometimes, just one look at your bedroom makes you want to give up before you even start to clean up and organize. Putting it off for as long as possible may look like the best course of action but you do know that you’re just delaying the inevitable.

Instead of having a go at cleaning up and organizing your bedroom in one fell swoop, try working through the pile of mess bit by bit. Consider putting aside 30 minutes a day to work on sections of your room. Start with the area near the door then work your way in. It will be slow but you’ll see the progress you made until you’ve finally got everything in its rightful place and the junk out of your pristine bedroom.

Use organizers

Regardless of how much stuff you have, you can do away with clutter by using organizers. These could be in the form of affordable mesh containers or even used boxes, for as long as these allow you to sort your items out. That way, finding things you need at the moment becomes easier.

Use organizers in your closet, dresser, and nightstand drawers to separate your items from one another. Smaller items such as socks, ties, and underwear should also have their respective organizers. Even your bathroom can use organizers to sort out stuff like toiletries, cleaning supplies, towels, and other items.

Install a coat rack

At some point in your life, you’ve probably had “the chair” – that one sorry piece of furniture where you toss used clothes until there’s no space for you to sit on. One way to prevent this and maintain the original function of your chair is to have a coat rack installed in a corner of your room. Not only does this make your room look neater but it also prevents your clothes from wrinkling in a messy heap. You can also opt for wall hooks instead of a coat rack but this may take up space on the wall.

Get more storage

It’s only natural for things to pile up and accumulate in your bedroom over time. However, your storage solutions remain the same and will eventually be filled to the hilt. When that happens, you might want to consider getting more storage space. You can use the space behind the headboard and install built-in shelves or nooks for your books, accessories, or decor. You can also switch to a nightstand with drawers or a two-tiered nightstand for more space to put stuff in. A storage ottoman or bench by the foot of your bed is another effective storage solution to add to your room for bulky items such as winter coats, blankets, and seldom-used outfits.
